Mr. K.P. Fabian – President

Ambassador K.P. Fabian, served in the Indian Foreign Service for 36 years and retired as India’s ambassador to Italy. He has published a book, ‘Commonsense on war on Iraq’, in 2003, published numerous papers and articles on International Relations, Development, Governance, Globalization, and related issues. After his retirement, he has been associated with the Corporate Sector. Since 2002, he served on the board of Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers in Mumbai, and concurrently chaired the Audit Committee of the Board. He was on the board of the Syndicate Bank for a three-year term.

Ms. Patricia Mukhim – Vice President

Ms. Patricia Mukhim is the Editor of ‘The Shillong Times’, Meghalaya’s oldest and the largest selling English daily. She is currently the member of the National Foundation For Communal Harmony and is also the member of the Task Force on Centre State Relations, besides adorning other positions of Regional and National significance. She has been a member of the State Planning Board of Meghalaya for several years. Ms. Mukhim is also a Gender Activist, a Trainer and an independent Researcher. She was conferred the Padmashri in the year 2000 and has received several awards for journalism. Ms. Mukhim also writes weekly columns for Statesman and Telegraph. She is widely traveled and delivers talks at different National and International fora.

Mr. Shyamal Ghosh – Treasurer

Mr. Shyamal Ghosh, was in the Indian Administrative Services. He was the Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Chairman of the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Secretary Dept. of Electronics and Vice–Chairman C-DAC. He retired as the Chairman of Telecom Commission. He was also appointed as an Expert Consultant by International organizations like United Nations Industrial Development Organisation, World Bank, International Telecommunity Union, Asia-Pacific Telecommunity. He is presently on the Board of several Companies/Organisations and is the Chairman of Data Security Council of India (a Self-Regulatory Organisation for the IT/ITES sector) as well as the Internet Protocol Television Forum.

Ms. Bernadette Pimenta – Member of Board of Governor and General Body

Ms. Bernadette Pimenta is a Social Activist and Educator. She was the National Secretary for Women and later the State President of the All India Catholic Union. She has been a member of several Archdiocesan Committees and Commissions. Presently she is the Principal of Garden School, which runs a value based programme for children in Thane and Director of Sevadham, an NGO, based in Thane.

Most Rev Gerald Almeida – Member of Board of Governor and General Body

Most Rev Gerald Almeida received his Priestly Ordination on 14th Dec, 1974. He became the Bishop of Jabalpur on 16th May, 2001.

Dr. N.J. Kurian – Member of Board of Governor and General Body

Dr. N. J. Kurian is presently a Visiting Professor at the Council for Social Development, New Delhi & also at the Institute of Public Enterprises, Hyderabad. He was the Director, Council for Social Development, Sr. Advisor (Financial Resources), Planning Commission, Economic Advisor, Ministry of Finance, Director, Dept. of Rural Development. He also served as Consultant to Asian Development Bank, United Nation’s Development Programme, Food and Agricultural Organisation & United Nation’s Children’s Emergency Fund. He has published over 30 research articles in journals of international repute. His latest publication is an edited book which was brought out by Cambridge Scholars Publishing, UK.

Ms. Surekha Sule – Member of Board of Governor and General Body

Ms Surekha Sule is a Journalist and a Social Activist. She writes in English and Marathi for print as well as electronic media on business as also on social and developmental issues. Ms. Surekha is active in citizens’ participation in social and environmental issues and is member of various formal and informal progressive forums. Ms. Surekha was engaged as Media Consultant to manage media for clients of BMRP-a leading communication and knowledge management agency, Editor in IndianNGOs.com, which is a web site on social and developmental issues, Senior News Editor in Sawaal.com, Business Editor in Indianinfo.com, Senior Special Correspondent in the Investment Bureau of The Financial Express, Research Journalist in The Economic Times Research Bureau etc.

Fr. Varghese Mattamana – Member of Board of Governor and General Body

Fr. Varghese Mattamana is the Executive Director, CARITAS INDIA. He was the Executive Director of Shreyas, the Diocesan Social Service Centre and Manager Catholic Press. He is presently the Treasurer of Action for Food Production, Catholic Bishops Conference of India and Task Force Member of National Disaster Management Authority.

Dr. (Mrs.) Lalrintluangi

Dr. (Mrs.) Lalrintluangi, served as a doctor for 35 years in the Government sector. She has vast experience in the field of Public Health and held positions of repute – Chief Medical Officer, Central Government Health Scheme Dispensaries, New Delhi, Assistant Commissioner & Deputy Commissioner, Dept. of Family Welfare, New Delhi and various other prestigious positions during her tenure. She was also instrumental in promoting Health Education.

Dr. Manas Ghosh

Dr. Manas Ghosh, is the Honorary Dean at the Faculty of Integrated Rural Development & Management, Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Narendrapur, Kolkata. He was the Technical Officer, Ministry of Agriculture, Senior Research Officer, Ministry of Textile, Senior Lecturer, Govt. of West Bengal run ‘Agricultural Training Centre’.

Mr. Madan Prasad Bezbaruah

Mr. Madan Prasad Bezbaruah was in the Indian Administrative Services. During his tenure he served as Principal Adviser, Planning Commission of India, Minister (Economic) High Commission of India, London, and adorned various other prestigious positions. He retired as the Secretary, Ministry of Tourism. Currently, he is the Permanent Representative (Hon) World Tourism Organisation, Ex – Co Chairman, World Tourism Organisation. He has also written four books on Tourism.

Mr. Michael Bastian

Mr. Michael Bastian is a Management Consultant and has more than 32 years of experience in various Public Sector Banks. He held several significant positions like CEO of Vijaya Bank, GM of Union Bank of India and Chairman of Syndicate Bank.

Mrs. Valli Alagappan

Mrs. Valli Alagappan has been working for the betterment of orphan children’s through the Public Charitable Trust, Chennai, of which she is the Managing Trustee. With the help of the Trust, a high school has been set up in the backward areas, providing all the facilities for the village children, including Computers, Science and Math labs and also play equipment for youngsters. She also runs Health Centre for the under privileged.

Dr. Vibhuti Patel

Dr. Vibhuti Patel, is the Director, Department of Post Graduate Studies and Research of SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai. She is a member of Expert Committee of School of Gender and Development Studies of Indira Gandhi National Open University and member of Advisory Board of Dept. of Women’s Studies of National Council of Education. During 1992 – 93, she was a visiting faculty at the Development Studies Institute of The London School of Economics and Political Science. She has also authored a book ‘Women’s Challenges of the New Millennium’.
