Basic security in life is the aim of every
individual, family and society. For many this aim becomes
a daily struggle. Human rights include the right to everything
that is essential to survive. To fulfil one’s rights one does
not need to hurt another. Yet, everyday there are instances
of human rights violations starting within our own homes and
moving on to a global scale. These instances have widespread
repercussions that lead to the breakdown of society.

Bonded labour, child labour, sexual harassment and abuse,
child marriage are examples of human rights violations. The
rights of the disabled, persons living or affected by HIV/AIDS,
tribals, dalits, scavengers, those affected by natural calamities
and communalism also need to be protected. Human rights abuses
leave an indelible mark on the lives of those affected. Rehabilitation
and justice for these persons is thus a greater challenge.
